Welcome to Smileypots!, where we believe in the power of plants to spread happiness. Founded by John Duffy in Los Angeles, Smileypots! is all about creating as many moments of joy as we can by connecting people with the beauty and positivity of plants.
About Johnny, the Founder
Hi, I'm John Duffy. I love writing stories, watching movies, and spending time with my incredible son. We reside in Los Angeles, where Smileypots! was founded. My journey with plants began long before Smileypots! took root—I worked in many retail plant stores, and it was there that I discovered my love for plants and plant decor. You should have seen me gasping at every new plant I discovered. Each plant tells a story, and I found so much joy in helping people add green life to their spaces. That passion grew into Smileypots!, where we create not just beautiful plants but experiences that make people smile.
Our Company
At Smileypots!, what truly makes us unique is that each of our pots is a charming character with its own backstory and personality. These pots aren't just containers—they are adventurers, storytellers, and companions. We believe that beyond the cuteness of the pot lies a deeper connection, one that brings joy into people's homes and hearts.
Our secret sauce is our Smiley Staff! Sara (admin), Kim (admin), Andrew (Marketing), and Atlas (Admin) have all made this possible, and I thank my lucky stars every day!
Our second secret ingredient is how we blend plant energy with crystal energy, creating dynamic, positive vibes. From infusing our soil with the healing properties of rose quartz to adding soul crystals and pebble toppings that enhance the plant experience, everything we do aims to create that magical moment of joy. Whether it's a grandmother enjoying a special moment with her grandbabies, a college girl and her new boyfriend discovering a shared love for plants, or a new apartment dweller proudly showing off their green decor, we love being part of these happy moments.
Our goal is to create as many moments of joy as possible, by connecting as many people with plants as we can, all around the world!

- A Boom – 5 Joys, or a deep, grateful joy that hits hard, like an overwhelming moment of happiness.
- A FamJoy – A 'Family of Joys,' representing 10 Joys. Symbolizes the collective happiness of a family gathering or special holiday.
- A Gasp – 100 Joys, enough to fill a room with good vibes, like a small celebration or a heartwarming event with friends.
- A MegaJoy – 1,000 Joys. Represents a community's worth of joy, like the shared energy of a concert, festival, or citywide celebration.
- A MillaJoy – 1 million Joys! Represents massive joy from a major milestone or a huge event that brings people together.
- A GigaJoy – 10 million Joys, equivalent to the joy of an entire country, like a national celebration or shared victory.
